Clinical Programming:

Windwood Farm provides 24-hour awake supervision and treatment for young boys, ages six through sixteen. Each child who comes to Windwood Farm is assessed individually and his length of stay is determined by his needs and his progress in therapy.

Windwood Farm residents enjoy a secure, comfortable, and serene setting in which they are able to explore their past and work to strengthen their lives so they will be able to lead a productive future.  A number of different forms of experiential therapies take place on the 110-acre campus, and both individual and group therapy and counseling are also provided. A community Psychiatrist, James McKinney M.D. works closely with our the interdisciplinary  team and assists them with determining the appropriate care plan and length of stay for each child.  All services are individualized to meet the childs needs and to accommodate his specific disabilities.

Our interdisciplinary team is held to high ethical standards. Windwood Farm is accredited by The Council on Accreditation and follows best practice standards in providing residential treatment services.

Clinicians focus on anger management techniques, family dynamics, emotional injury, and personal responsibility. The general therapeutic approach is to assist each resident in identifying core issues, resolving conflict, and developing new attitudes and coping skills. The therapeutic philosophy is a powerful mechanism in creating a more positive sense of self-worth. The combination of counseling and the program structure is designed to assist every resident in building a more effective and healthy lifestyle.

Human Servfices Professionals provide case management for all residents and work hand-in-hand with the referring agencies.  This relationship is especially important when planning for residential care services to address behaviors that hinder a child's successful return to his community. The child's safety is always at the forefront of therapeutic decisions regarding the if and when he should return to his home.

By using the organizational mission statement as a guiding force for services, Windwood Farm provides interventions that enhance social functioning and strengthen psychological well-being.  We offer an environment of help, hope, and healing that is child-centered, familiy-focused and responsive to the cultural orientation of our families. Our program is not institutional in its design or in its delivery of services. We are instead driven to provide interventions that are therapeutically sound and are time and cost efficient. We build foundations for future success.
