Healing begins with HOPE!

Last March one of our former residents spoke during Windwood Farm's Hope Builder's Breakfast.  There were tears in his eyes as Tony concluded his brief remarks by saying, "Thanks for not giving up on me!"

As a victim of physcial and sexual abuse, Tony admitted he was "not a nice kid, to put it mildly" when he arrived at Windwood Farm at the age of 13.  He was angry, violent, out of control, and ready to fight anything and anyone.  Tony was losing life's battle after many failed trips to foster homes and youth shelters.  His future looked bleak.

However, the Treatment Team at Windwood was ready for Tony.  Our trained professionals understood the source of his negative behavior and stood by him in his struggle to find a way to break free of the toxic problems that were ruining his life.  Tony is now 16, lives with his mom, works part-time, and attends school regularly.  He says he uses the things he learned at Windwood Farm every, single day.  Now he IS a "nice kid."

We didn't give up on Tony, and we won't give up on other angry, wounded, and troubled boys who are brought here for therapeutic intervention, often as a last resort.  Windwood Farm is at war with the devastating effects of child abuse and neglect.  We use every resource at our disposal to stand in the gap between heartbreak and hope.  We've been doing this for almost 25 years, and we refuse to give up . . . because we're winning the war, one life at a time.
