Our Family Resource Connection and Preservation Services helped a mom undergoing cancer treatment.
We recently worked with a family led by single mother Deborah Caldwell who is courageously battling cancer while caring for her young son, Benjamin. Deborah had been struggling to meet their basic needs and was in urgent need of support.
Misty, one of our dedicated caseworkers, quickly identified several areas where Windwood could help stabilize and strengthen the household. Our team provided essential furnishings for the living room, along with beds and clean bedding. Misty also offered guidance on home maintenance and how to locate community resources online. To help build independent living skills, we supplied cleaning materials and demonstrated simple, effective housekeeping practices. During the holiday season, Windwood added Benjamin to our community donor and volunteer wish list. Deborah was overjoyed when her son received a brand-new bicycle and helmet — something she had long wished for but could not afford. This support has helped Deborah and Benjamin sustain a safe, clean, and nurturing home environment while gaining the confidence to seek out long-term community resources for ongoing stability.
