Teddy’s journey to healing is a testament to the strength and resilience of children. At just 15 years old, he has faced more challenges than most people do in a lifetime. Before Teddy’s admission to Windwood, he and his infant sister lived with their mother. Teddy and his sister endured prolonged physical and sexual abuse by their mother’s partner, leading to their placement in separate foster homes in 2022.
The trauma he experienced became clear shortly after beginning treatment. His experiences left him with severe psychological scars, resulting in episodes where he would growl, act like an animal, and struggle with basic social skills.
When Teddy first arrived at Windwood, he discovered a passion for basketball, which became a powerful outlet for him to build his confidence. Though he sometimes struggles with focus and social interactions, to everyone that knows him, his progress is mind-boggling.
Teddy is showing incredible growth thanks to extensive one-on-one support from his Windwood treatment team. Within the last 2 months, the court terminated his mother’s parental rights. His maternal grandparents have stepped up, expressing a desire to care for him and ensure he has a safe environment away from his mother. As we seek to create a permanent home for Teddy, we need your support. With the help of donors like you, a Windwood transition coordinator will work closely with his grandparents to prepare them for his return and ensure his treatment continues at home after his discharge.
You can help Teddy and other boys like him at Windwood. By making a gift today, you will provide the resources needed for Teddy to continue his lifelong journey towards healing. Your support provides the specialized care that rebuilds a child’s life.
